Help and Advice

An author’s sources of information and advice are going to be myriad and varied (one would hope) and mine obviously include a lot of the authors and titles on my Recommendations page so here I’m going to present to you any one that I have found helpful above and beyond that.

The first is Brandon Sanderson’s series of lectures on YouTube which together cover an outrageous amount of topics ranging from character building to marketing. I can’t recommend them enough since the advice he imparts there can be applied to almost any genre.

Another place for information is the treasure trove and very active social media-er (yes, that’s now a word because I says so) that is Michael J Sullivan. He has various posts and lessons scattered around the Web but possibly the best place to look is on Reddit. The responses he gives are always robust and open and, despite having never gotten around to reading his books, he has become a favourite author of mine for the time he takes to give his advice.
